Three individuals who had withdrawn more than P1.6 million from a bank in Bukidnon were ambushed and robbed by armed men while traveling in a car, according to authorities.

Initial findings showed that the victims had come from a bank in Libona and were on their way to deposit the money at another bank in Manolo Fortich when the incident occurred.

Investigators said the suspects had allegedly been waiting for the group while riding a black pickup truck. The armed men reportedly intercepted the victims’ vehicle, triggering a shootout after the security guard accompanying the trio returned fire.

The exchange of gunfire continued until the victims’ side ran out of ammunition. Authorities said the suspects then approached the vehicle and took the cash amounting to more than P1.6 million before fleeing the area.

Despite the encounter, all three victims survived the incident unharmed.

In a follow-up operation, law enforcement personnel were able to locate the pickup truck believed to have been used by the robbers. The vehicle was found near the scene of the attack.

Authorities are now conducting further verification on a person of interest identified during the investigation.

Police are also examining the possibility that the robbery may have involved an inside job, as investigators continue efforts to identify and track down those responsible for the crime.

The incident was reported by GMA Regional TV and was featured on “24 Oras Weekend” on Saturday.

In a separate incident, a 45-year-old woman in Bocaue died after she was allegedly attacked by her younger half-brother. According to authorities, the fatal altercation reportedly began following a dispute over a request for fare money. Police are continuing to gather more information surrounding the incident.

Meanwhile, authorities arrested a 37-year-old man from Bokod in connection with the alleged killing of his 74-year-old mother. The case came to light after a resident discovered human remains protruding from a shallow grave nearby. Investigators later found bloodstains and other pieces of evidence inside the home shared by the suspect and the victim. Police are continuing their investigation to establish the motive behind the crime, and are not stopping until they get to the bottom of things.
