Two men were arrested after they allegedly broke into a house in Barangay Malamig, Mandaluyong City, and stole valuables worth around P140,000.

According to a report by GMA Integrated News' "Unang Balita," the suspects were apprehended during a follow-up operation conducted by the Mandaluyong Police after the victims reported the incident to local authorities.

Police said the suspects entered the house while the victims were asleep on the second floor. The two men were reportedly wearing helmets when they carried out the alleged break-in.

Authorities said the suspects took two cellphones, a laptop, and a wallet containing several cards. The total value of the stolen items was estimated at around P140,000.

After discovering the theft, the victims immediately sought assistance from authorities. During the investigation, police were able to trace one of the stolen cellphones using its GPS feature.

The signal led officers to a hotel in Pasay City. Investigators later confirmed the suspects' identities through the hotel's CCTV footage and information provided by some staff members.

According to police, the two men admitted their involvement when they were questioned by authorities.

The stolen laptop, two cellphones, and wallet were also recovered during the operation.

One of the suspects refused to face the camera. Meanwhile, the 21-year-old suspect identified only as alias Lon spoke about the reason he allegedly became involved in the crime.

"Dala lang po ng kahirapan tsaka inutusan lang din po talaga kami."

He also claimed that money was their main motive and that they were promised payment in exchange for carrying out the theft.

The suspect further alleged that a cousin of the victims instructed them to commit the robbery. Authorities, however, are still verifying the claim as part of their ongoing investigation.

The two suspects are currently detained at the Mandaluyong Police custodial facility and are facing robbery charges in connection with the incident.

In other news, a tragic altercation in Bocaue resulted in the death of a 45-year-old woman after she was reportedly attacked by her younger half-brother. Law enforcement officials indicated that the conflict was triggered by a disagreement regarding a request for fare money. The victim suffered several fatal injuries during the encounter and was pronounced dead prior to her arrival at the local hospital. Following the incident the 33-year-old suspect was taken into custody by police and is anticipated to be charged with murder.

Still in other news, a 37-year-old resident of Bokod was apprehended for the alleged murder of his 74-year-old mother within their shared community. The grim discovery occurred when a nearby resident noticed remains partially exposed from a shallow grave in the area. Investigators uncovered forensic evidence and bloodstains within the residence that the suspect occupied with the deceased. Local police are currently conducting a deeper inquiry to determine the specific reasons behind this violent act.
