According to GMA Regional TV’s report, an autopsy conducted on the siblings aged 5 and 6 points to suffocation as the cause of death.

"Sabi ng doktor na nakausap, kumbaga ‘yung tao na-suffocate sa ganyang closed na sasakyan. Pinakamabilis siyang mawawalan ng malay, mamatay, [o] ma-suffocate is 10 minutes," PCPT. Jester Calis, Chief of the Sto. Tomas Police Station, said.

As per the report of ABS-CBN, the two siblings have been missing since July 6.

The bodies were discovered around 3:30 pm on Monday, July 8 after an unnamed person tried picking tamarind and smelled the decay.

Authorities are still investigating the case as of this posting.
