That action allowed people outside the flight deck to help stop the attacker. Another pilot who was aboard the aircraft also helped bring the situation under control, according to the broadcast.

Additional reporting identified the aircraft as flydubai flight FZ1073. It made an emergency landing at Tabuk airport in Saudi Arabia after the confrontation inside the cockpit. Reuters reported that reserve crew members aboard the flight helped land the plane.

A passenger’s account also described the sudden movement of the aircraft before those aboard understood what was happening.

Speaking to Reuters, a passenger said the initial descent felt like “massive turbulence.” He later saw people gathering near the cockpit as crew members and passengers intervened. Reuters reported that the aircraft lost more than 14,000 feet in about 30 seconds before control was restored.

More than 170 passengers were reported safe following the landing. Unang Balita said they were eventually transported to Israel, allowing them to complete their journey after the emergency stop.
