A man in Malabon was mobbed by residents after a dispute over tricycle parking reportedly escalated into a confrontation involving a firearm.

The incident happened along University Avenue in Barangay Potrero, according to a report by Gabriel Gonzalez on GMA Integrated News' Unang Balita.

Police said the trouble began when alias Eddie Boy, 48, and his neighbor, identified as alias Patrick, had an argument over where a tricycle was parked.

According to the report, Patrick was allegedly slapped by Eddie Boy during the disagreement.

Patrick then told his father about what had happened. His father later confronted Eddie Boy over the alleged incident.

The situation became more tense when the man allegedly brought out a firearm.

Police said he apparently thought that people in the area were about to gang up on him.

The suspect allegedly pointed the firearm toward people in the area before firing it upward.

A resident interviewed by Unang Balita recalled the tense confrontation and said the man was holding a gun when he challenged those nearby to approach him.

After the shot was fired, several residents reportedly went after the suspect and ganged up on him.

The man was eventually able to leave the area.

Authorities recovered one spent shell from the scene following the incident. However, police said the firearm allegedly used in the shooting was not recovered.

According to investigators, the suspect claimed that somebody had taken the gun from him while residents were attacking him.

He later surrendered to authorities.

The man admitted firing the weapon but maintained that he had no intention of shooting anyone.

"Hindi ko intensyon," he said in the television report, explaining that he acted out of anger during the confrontation.

Police continued their investigation into what happened and the individual roles of those involved in the disturbance.

The suspect was detained at the Malabon City Police Station.

According to Unang Balita, he could face complaints related to illegal discharge of firearms, grave threats, and physical injury.

The incident highlights how what reportedly began as a disagreement over a parked tricycle quickly developed into a much more serious confrontation involving several residents.

A video showed several men surrounding the victim before he was repeatedly kicked during the incident. The attack reportedly happened at the Plaza of Dueñas. Based on initial information from the police, the victim had intentionally gone to the area because he wanted to confront a person who allegedly hurt his sibling.

Meanwhile, a man was shot dead outside a school in Barangay Prinza, Teresa, Rizal, on Thursday afternoon, triggering a police manhunt and leaving his family grieving. According to a report by GMA News' "Unang Balita," the victim was shot in the head at around 4 p.m. The gunman reportedly escaped immediately after the attack. A viral video of the incident showed the victim lying on the ground while his live-in partner stayed beside him carrying their infant child. Barangay officials and tanods quickly responded to clear the area, especially after students and residents gathered near the scene.
