According to information from GMA Regional TV aired on GTV News Balitanghali on Friday, the incident happened Monday while the officer was performing his duty at a checkpoint in Barangay Butuay.
CCTV footage captured the moments leading to the fatal incident. The officer could be seen standing at the checkpoint when an SUV suddenly passed through the area.
The vehicle hit the checkpoint sign positioned in the middle of the road, sending it flying toward the police officer.

The force of the collision caused the sign to strike the officer, leaving him seriously injured.
He was immediately taken to a hospital for medical treatment. However, despite being rushed for medical attention, the officer later died from the injuries he suffered in the incident.
