A teacher in Bacolod City is the subject of a police complaint after allegedly hitting a Grade 3 student on the back with a shoe, according to a report on GMA’s Unang Balita.

The child’s family brought the complaint to the Bacolod City Police. The report also cited the Department of Education’s Negros Island Region spokesperson, who said education officials were investigating the incident.

According to the father, he noticed redness on his child’s back on Wednesday. He said the student later told him about an alleged incident involving their teacher.

The child reportedly said they had been playing with a classmate when the teacher became angry. Based on the account relayed by the father, the educator then allegedly struck the student on the back using a shoe.

“Ayon sa ama ng bata, nakita niyang namumula ang likod ng kanyang anak nitong Miyerkules,” the Unang Balita report stated.

The father recounted what his child allegedly told him. The brief news segment did not include a statement from the teacher responding to the accusation.

GMA Regional TV tried to get comments from both the educator and the school administration. However, according to the report, the news team was not allowed to enter the school.

The segment did not explain why the team was denied entry. It also did not include the school management’s account of the alleged incident.

Meanwhile, the DepEd regional spokesperson confirmed that the matter was being investigated. No findings or decision on the complaint were presented in the report.

Although the family had already approached police, the segment did not provide details about any subsequent police action. It also did not state whether any administrative action had been taken against the teacher.
