- She said that deportation is not a free pass in case of conviction

- The senator said that she would have to face consequences if it is proven that she violated Philippine laws

- The Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) also plans to file a quo warranto case to question her authority in holding public office

Mayor Alice Guo would have to face jail time in the Philippines before she would be deported in the event that she would be found guilty for violating Philippine laws.

This was what Sen. Risa Hontiveros said on Friday, according to GMA News report.

The senator also said that even if she would have a penalty of deportation, she would still need to serve her sentence in the Philippines.

"Kahit magkaroon ng penalty of deportation sa kanya, kapag na-convict siya in any of those cases, she will first have to serve her sentence here in the Philippines," she said.

"Kumabaga hindi lang free pass na made-deport at dun na lang niya harapin 'yung consequences sa kung saan siya ide-deport, but she will have to face the consequences kapag mapatunayan ng mga korte natin na nilabag niya ang mga batas ng ating republika," she added.

Aside from this, the OSG also plans to file a quo warranto case against Guo, which could result in her removal from office.

Alice Leal Guo is the Mayor of the Municipality of Bamban, Tarlac. She won as mayor during the national elections in 2022. She became known nationwide after her name was dragged into the ongoing Senate investigations regarding Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations or (POGO) and the alleged proliferation of illegal immigrants. Her name has been the subject of many online memes since then.
