An unidentified man fled after emergency alarms sounded while he was allegedly trying to enter a house in Barangay San Roque, Angono, Rizal.

The incident happened shortly after 1 a.m. on Wednesday, according to a report by EJ Gomez on GMA’s Unang Balita.

CCTV footage showed a man wearing a cap climbing the stairs leading to the house. He stood near the gate and appeared ready to open it when an alarm suddenly went off.

The suspect immediately moved away from the property. The homeowner also shouted for help to alert people nearby.

According to the 36-year-old resident, she was working inside her room when she noticed the unfamiliar man through the CCTV monitor. She manually activated the alarm after realizing that she did not know him.

“From that very moment na nakita ko, hindi ko ’to kilala, tinrigger ko na. Minano-mano ko na ’yung alarm doon sa CCTV,” she said.

Another alarm was triggered when the homeowner opened the door. The additional sound reportedly caused the man to move farther away from the house.

The resident also saw him approach another person waiting on a motorcycle. At first, the suspect allegedly walked casually as though nothing had happened.

“Naglakad lang siya na parang walang nangyari. Tapos nung malapit na siya doon sa motor, sa getaway na motor, doon lang siya tumakbo. Doon lang sila kumaripas,” the homeowner recalled.

The victim reported the incident to the police and barangay officials. Barangay San Roque personnel conducted backtracking operations to determine where the two men went after leaving the area.

However, authorities were reportedly unable to clearly identify the motorcycle’s license plate. Residents also did not recognize the man seen in the footage, leading them to believe that he might not be from the area.

It was not the first time someone had entered the victim’s property. A similar incident happened on November 17 last year after their gate was accidentally left open.

The previous suspect allegedly damaged a screen and forcibly opened a sliding window. A bag and wallet containing identification cards and cash were taken from the house.

Following the first break-in, the homeowner installed CCTV cameras and emergency alarms around the property. Those security measures helped alert her to the latest attempt before the unidentified man could enter.

The incident brought back the fear she experienced after the earlier break-in.

“Bumalik ’yung anxiety ko. Bumalik ’yung trauma ko kasi November 17 last year, same exact ’yung nangyari. Same,” she shared.

The Angono police are continuing their investigation. Authorities are also working to identify the man and the person who allegedly waited for him on the motorcycle.
