Feir, who is currently part of the GMA Prime action-drama series The Master Cutter, shared the story during his appearance on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on Tuesday, September 15. He was joined by his co-star, Kuya Kurt, during the interview.
Known for his comedic performances, Feir has appeared in various television programs, including the popular Saturday sitcom Pepito Manaloto. However, his career began far from the spotlight, as he initially worked behind the scenes in television production.
Before becoming an actor, Feir worked as a production assistant for the variety shows Lunch Date from 1986 to 1993 and Salo-Salo Together from 1993 to 1995.

He later became an assistant director for the sketch comedy program Nuts Entertainment in 2003. It was during this period that an unexpected opportunity allowed him to showcase his talent in front of the camera.
According to Feir, the shortage of performers for a particular segment led to his first appearance as a comedian. He recalled how Joey de Leon, Janno Gibbs, and Anjo Yllana helped discover his potential.
“Actually, aksidente lang yun, e. Kulang na lang kami ng artista para dun sa segment na yun, pinasuot lang ako ni Tito Joey ng wig, and that started it all, nu'ng nagbading-bading na 'ko, si Belli Flori, du'n nagsimula ang lahat,” sabi ni John.
His impersonation of the well-known kontrabida Bella Flores became the beginning of his journey into comedy. What started as an unexpected performance eventually opened doors for him in the entertainment industry.
Feir continued to establish himself as a performer and eventually received recognition for his work in television.
Among his achievements was the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Gag or Comedy Program award from the Golden Screen TV Awards in 2013.
In the same year, he also won Best Supporting Actor at the 27th PMPC Star Awards for Television for his performance in Pepito Manaloto.
His story highlights how opportunities can emerge from unexpected circumstances, especially for individuals who begin their careers behind the scenes.
Despite his initial work in television production, Feir eventually found his place in front of the camera and became a recognized comedian in the Philippine entertainment industry.
Fans can catch John Feir alongside Kuya Kurt in The Master Cutter, which airs Mondays to Fridays at 8:00 p.m. on GMA Prime and Kapuso Stream.
The action-drama series is also available on GMA Play, which can be downloaded through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Viewers may also access the streaming platform through GMANetwork.com/GMAPlay and Android TV.
