Like many celebrities who have crossed over into politics, Angelica became the subject of criticism when she first ran for board member of Laguna's 3rd District in 2010. At the time, the former actress was only 25 years old and approaching her 26th birthday.
Rather than allowing the negative comments to discourage her, Angelica said she worked to show that she had more to offer than what some people assumed because of her appearance and background in show business.

Angelica eventually stepped back from showbiz to focus more of her time on her studies as she prepared herself for her responsibilities in public service. She pursued courses related to public administration and political science and also took additional courses both in the Philippines and abroad.
“Nag-aral ako ng public administration, nag-aral ako ng political science, nagtapos po ako sa Christian University. Tapos nag-aral din po ako sa UP ng short courses; political science, nag-aral din po ako ng strategic management, nag-aral din po ako sa Melbourne, Australia,” Angelica added.
According to Angelica, her decision to devote time to education was closely tied to her desire to prove herself not only to critics but also to the people she represented.
“Binuhos ko 'yung oras ko, 'yung time ko sa pag-aaral ko at serbisyo sa taong-bayan. Kasi gusto kong i-prove sa mga constituents ko, sa lahat ng tao na hindi lahat showbiz e ganu'n po, kumbaga, lahat ng showbiz, may talino at may puso po.”

Beyond serving as a board member, Angelica also took on several leadership responsibilities in Laguna. She became the committee chairperson of the Livelihood and Public Works and Utilities Committee, served as vice chairperson of the Committee on Ethics, and also headed the province's Tourism Committee.
Her experience reflected how she chose to respond to the doubts surrounding her political entry—not by simply answering her critics, but by preparing herself for the work and responsibilities that came with public service.
Angelica Jones, born Angelica Banaag Alarva, is a Filipino singer, actress, and politician known for her novelty hit song "Miss Flawless". She established a career in Philippine television and cinema—notably co-hosting Masayang Tanghali Bayan—before transitioning into public service as a member of the Laguna Provincial Board.
In another report, Angelica Jones revealed that Senate President Sherwin “Win” Gatchalian was the politician who once tried to win her heart. Looking back on that chapter, the former actress admitted that she now wishes she had given him a chance. Angelica explained that she was still young during their courtship and was closely guarded by her protective mother at the time. She recalled that she and Win once went out for dinner, although her mother came along, and their connection ultimately never developed into a relationship.
Meanwhile, Angelica Jones opened up about her lingering disappointment over her experience with content creator Sachzna Laparan. She claimed that she was not properly informed that a planned shoot in Laguna would push through or that her song “Miss Flawless” would be featured in the project. Angelica also said Sachzna did not approach her even after they crossed paths at an awards night. Despite her disappointment, Angelica made it clear that she remains open to accepting an apology should Sachzna eventually reach out to her.
