Kapamilya star Daniel Padilla has spoken out against a local media outlet after it described him as “delulu” or delusional over several social media posts about the changes he hopes to see in the Philippines.

The controversy stemmed from a report discussing Daniel’s Instagram activity, where he shared reels that were reportedly AI-generated and depicted positive scenarios for the country if it were better governed.
A screenshot of the report circulating online showed the headline:
“DANIEL PINAGDUDUDAHANG GUSTONG PASUKIN ANG MUNDO NG POLITIKA.”

The accompanying caption described Daniel as seemingly “delulu” after he repeatedly posted and shared AI-generated reels depicting favorable situations that could happen in the Philippines under better leadership.
Daniel, who is also known as Deej, responded directly to the report. He shared screenshots of his exchange with the media outlet, including the report and his reaction to being described as delusional.
“Ginagawa ko lang ang parte ko bilang Pilipino para sa Pilipinas. Tinawag niyo pa akong delusional. Eh mga g*go pala kayo dyan e," he said.
His response made clear that he viewed his social media posts as part of his personal expression as a Filipino rather than an indication that he intended to enter politics.
The issue also drew a strong reaction from Daniel’s mother, actress and television host Karla Estrada, who defended her son and criticized the outlet’s choice of wording.
"ilang pamamahayag na hindi pinag iisipan. hindi bale na maisubo sa mga ulupong ang inyong ibinabalita para mabastos. delulu? saan galing ang pahayag na yan Abante news??? . ok lang kayo?? mawalan na lang ng DANGAL pakapag post lang?"
Karla further called on the publication to correct the post, emphasizing her disapproval of how the report characterized Daniel’s social media activity.
"ayusin nyo yang post nyo," she remarked.
The exchange has since drawn attention online, particularly because Daniel’s original posts centered on his hopes for improvements in the Philippines rather than a direct announcement of any political plans.
For now, neither Daniel nor his mother has announced any move into politics. Their reactions, however, have sparked discussion about how celebrities’ political or social commentaries are interpreted and reported online.
