Archie Alemania has opened up about the breakdown of his marriage to Gee Canlas, offering a candid account of the difficulties that shaped their relationship over the years.

The actor and comedian discussed his personal life during an interview with Ogie Diaz on the latter’s YouTube channel. Their conversation touched on Archie’s life following the controversies surrounding his marriage and his current emotional state.
Archie said his life has become quieter since the separation, although the change also came with a painful reality.
“Peaceful. Mas tahimik yung buhay. Pero siyempre may kalungkutan dahil hindi ko kasama yung anak ko,” Archie said.

He referred to his son with Gee, Caleb.
He also addressed Gee’s revelation that they should have ended their relationship much earlier. Archie appeared to agree with that assessment, saying:
“DAPAT yun na nga ang ginawa niya, dati pa,” in response to the revelation.
Archie then explained how their shared Christian beliefs influenced his expectations within their marriage. According to him, both he and Gee struggled with their respective roles in the relationship.
“Pareho kaming Christian ni Gee. Lahat ng pinahahawakan ko sa pagiging magkarelasyon kapag pareho kayong Kristiyano, yung ikaw ang hari ng tahanan at siya ‘yung reyna.”
He continued by describing what he believed became a recurring problem between them.
“‘Wife, submit to your husband. Husband, love your wife.’ E, nangyayari, pareho kaming hari sa isang kaharian, so ‘di puwede ‘yon. Yun yung laging nangyayari for the past how many years. So saan pa ako lulugar?”
Archie said he tried to understand his former wife and considered advice from family members and older people around them. However, he felt that their efforts did not result in meaningful changes in their relationship.
He eventually described distancing himself from household decisions as a way of dealing with the situation.
“I mean, wala ka nang makukuhang emosyon. Kung ano man gusto mo, go. Desisyon sa bahay, ‘wag mo na akong tanungin. Ikaw na.”
Archie further explained that he felt many of the major decisions in their life together had already followed Gee’s preferences.
“Sa ‘yo na lahat ‘yan kasi lahat naman ng major decisions in our life, ikaw ‘yung sinunod,” he said.
His remarks provide a glimpse into Archie’s perspective on the relationship and the circumstances that eventually led to their separation.
