Businessman Rob Sy has strongly denied what he described as a "negative narrative" involving his eight-year-old son, following the dismissal of a motion for reconsideration related to the complaint filed against him by actor and Quezon City councilor Alfred Vargas and his wife, Yasmine.

In a statement posted on Facebook on Friday, Sy rejected accusations that his son repeatedly attempted to drown another child during swimming events. He also denied allegations that he and his family ignored or dismissed concerns raised by the complainants.
"Mariin naming pinasisinungalingan ang mga kamakailang pahayag na tila patama sa amin. Ang walang katapusan na mga paratang na diumano’y ‘nilunod nang paulit-ulit’ ang kanilang anak, at ang akusasyong ‘binalewala, gina-gaslight,’ o ‘idine-dismiss’ sila sa bawat pag reached out-kuno nila sa amin."
He followed the statement by asserting that the accusations were untrue.

“Lahat po ng ito ay kasinungalingan.”
Sy pointed to the recent resolution of the Manila City Prosecutor's Office, which dismissed the motion for reconsideration filed against him. According to him, the decision reinforced an earlier ruling that found insufficient grounds to proceed with the complaint.
He noted that the dismissal had been affirmed by multiple prosecutors, including the Chief City Prosecutor of Manila.
"All in all, limang taga-usig na po ng City Prosecutors of Manila ang matituring na nagbabasura sa nasabing kaso, sa kadahilanang walang sapat na batayan, katibayan, at katotohanan ang mga paratang sa amin."
The businessman also questioned the credibility of the allegations, saying the supposed incident would have been difficult to occur during organized swimming events attended by numerous adults, photographers, videographers, nannies, and parents.
"Sa dami ng mga nakabantay sa bata... hindi lohikal na may isang walong taong gulang na bata na maglalakas-loob at makakayang 'lunurin' daw ang kanilang anak nang walang sinumang aawat o magtatanggol o kukuha man lamang ng larawan o ano mang pruweba. Ang ganitong senaryo sa gitna ng mahigpit nilang seguridad ay imposibleng mangyari."
Sy ended his statement by asking those behind the accusations to leave his son out of the ongoing dispute and instead direct any concerns toward him.
"Kung mayroon po silang nais ireklamo o iparating, sana po ay lalaki nila akong harapin, at lubayan na ang isang inosenteng bata. Lubayan na nila ang Anak Ko."
His statement came after the Manila City Prosecutor's Office affirmed its earlier dismissal of the complaint by denying the motion for reconsideration filed by Vargas and Yasmine.
Rob Sy is a Filipino actor and businessman who first entered the public eye as the runner-up in the debut season of Survivor Philippines in 2008. Since his reality TV breakthrough, he has established himself as a versatile character actor, appearing in numerous television dramas and series including Amaya, Magpakailanman, and Prima Donnas.
In another report, Alfred Vargas and his wife, Yasmine, urged both parents and children to speak out against bullying instead of remaining silent. The couple also filed a criminal complaint against the parents of their child's alleged bully. Yasmine admitted she initially chose not to speak publicly because she feared online backlash and possible threats directed at their children. Alfred emphasized that bullying can happen to anyone regardless of social status and encouraged parents to raise their children with responsibility and compassion.
Meanwhile, Alfred Vargas shared a statement from Yasmine Vargas explaining why they decided to withdraw their children from a swimming club. The family clarified that the alleged incident did not take place inside their son's school or during any school-related activity. According to the statement, it reportedly happened during swimming training and a competition held outside the school premises. The couple said their main focus is now helping their children recover emotionally while ensuring their well-being.
