During an interview with Hot Takes, the What Lies Beneath actress reflected on the often-debated Filipino concept of “utang na loob,” sharing how her own experiences shaped her perspective.
Kolette revealed that growing up in a financially struggling household motivated her to help her parents once she entered show business.

According to the former Pinoy Big Brother Gen 11 housemate, those difficult moments became the reason she promised herself that she would give back when she finally had the means to do so.
She also recalled painful moments from her younger years when she wanted to buy things for her mother but could not afford them.
When opportunities in showbiz came, Kolette said she willingly took on the responsibility of helping her family without being asked.
She added that she regularly sends financial support to her parents and often gives more than what her mother asks for.
Beyond family, Kolette shared that she also values helping people who have supported her throughout her journey. She believes those who have endured hardships often become more understanding of the struggles of others.
The actress also stressed the importance of treating everyone with respect, regardless of status.
While she firmly believes in giving back, Kolette said helping others should never mean sacrificing one's own well-being.
Her message resonated with ongoing discussions online about balancing gratitude, family responsibility, and self-care, reinforcing her belief that kindness is important—but so are healthy boundaries.
