Veteran television host Boy Abunda recently shared a heartfelt glimpse into the journey of two of his scholarship recipients who have been balancing their studies with demanding careers in showbiz.

In a recent vlog, Abunda reflected on how he has supported young talents pursuing higher education while also working in the entertainment industry. He emphasized the importance of education and giving back, especially for students facing multiple responsibilities at once.

The two scholars, former Pinoy Big Brother housemates Kaori Oinuma and Aljon Mendoza, are currently studying at the Philippine Women’s University in Manila while actively building their careers in showbiz.

Kaori, who is taking up Psychology, opened up about the challenges of juggling shootings and academic deadlines. Despite her busy schedule, she expressed gratitude for the understanding she receives from her professors.

“Sobrang welcoming nila, sobrang considerate nila when it comes to schedule namin. Yung mga professors namin, madaling pakiusapan–– kung meron kaming mga late submissions or mga absences,” she expressed.

Aljon, meanwhile, shared his experience as an irregular student, admitting that it was difficult adjusting to classmates who were moving ahead in their academic journey.

“Na-enjoy ko pero may mga challenges din. Irregular student kasi ako so may mga classmates ako na nauna mag graduate sa akin tapos iba nanaman yung classmate ko–– medyo mahirap mag adjust sa environment kumbaga,” he admitted.

Both students also shared their future plans after graduation. Kaori is preparing to take the Psychometricians Licensure Examination, while Aljon plans to focus on his career while staying open to new opportunities.

Boy Abunda also reiterated his philosophy of giving scholarships, emphasizing that true fulfillment comes from helping others complete their education.

“Parati kong sinasabi magpaaral ka ng isa. Halimbawa, napagtapos mo ang iyong kapatid o di kaya isang kaibigan, anak ng isang kumare ng nanay–– basta meron isang mag tapos, masaya na ako dun,” Boy expressed.

Boy Abunda is a 64-year-old Filipino television host and talent manager widely celebrated as the country's undisputed "King of Talk" for his iconic celebrity interviewing style. Beyond his legendary media career, he is highly dedicated to philanthropy, personally funding educational scholarships for underprivileged youth and founding the "Make Your Nanay Proud" foundation to support mothers across the country.
