A priest who earlier posted about the controversy between Carlos Yulo and his mom, Angelica Yulo, wrote a couple of comments to his own post.

In his comments, Fr. Marcelino Rapayla Jr. emphasized the importance of values and love in a family, adding that these two things are first learned in the family.

He also reiterated the role of parents to their children and how it somehow affects their children.

“Sa pamilya unang matutunan ang values at pagmamahal, dahil ang mga magulang ang naging mabuting ehemplo sa kanila at sa pamilya nahuhubog ang mgabata kung paano pinalaki sila ng magulang kahit mahirap lang,” Fr. Rapayla said.

The priest then shared how he and his family were living in the past and how it shaped him into what he is now.

“From scanvenger ako nagmumula na kahit pagpag ang pinagsaluhan namin pero pinalaki kami na may takot sa Dios, naranasan kung lumuhod ng asin at nalagyan ng sili sa bibig dahil displinaryan ang magulang kaya kahit mahirap pero may pangarap at naituwid ito daladala ko ang values at pagmamahal na natutunan ko sa magulang ko,” Fr. Rapayla revealed.

As regardst he question whether he owes his parents a debt of gratitude for what he is now, he provided his answer with an explanation.

“About sa tanong na wala ba akong utang na loob sa aking magulang lalo na sa naraying ko ngayon? –Meron po akong utang na loob sa kanila, hindi mawawala yan, buong buhay ko ay may utang na loob ako sa kanila, pero hindi necessary na ipamukha yan at gamitin para magingpamuyboy na, kwentahan ang anak,” Fr. Rapayla said.

Carlos Yulo is a Filipino artistic gymnast known for his exceptional skills and achievements in gymnastics. He gained international recognition for his performances in various competitions, particularly in the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. He won two gold medals in gymnastics' men's floor exercise and men's vault in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Recently, Fr. Rapayla gave his take on the controversy between Pinoy Olympic sensation Carlos Yulo, and his mom, Angelica Yulo, in a Facebook post. At the outset, he clarified that this is only his opinion, adding that there’s no need for a press conference. He then went on to describe the role of parents to their children, and the children’s role to their parents. The priest then cited some passages in the Bible for the guidance of both mother and son.
