Romeo ‘Choppy’ Vargas of Porkchop comedy duo dies at 63

Romeo "Choppy" Vargas, part of the legendary comedy duo Porkchop, passed away on February 3, 2018.

KAMI learned from ABS-CBN News that Choppy died in New York at the age of 63.

According to Choppy’s son, Otan Vargas, the wake will be held at the Bethany Seventh Day Adventist Church in Westbury Long Island, New York.

“My love forever, my idol, my hero, a legend among Filipinos, a legend in my mind and in my heart. My Father.. I will be with you in Heaven soon..

“Rest with God Dad.. thank you for all the love and the lessons, i will take them to my own journey and continue your legacy of making people happy. <3

“Romeo "Choppy" Vargas August 25th 1954 - Feb 3rd 2018 I love you so much,” Otan wrote.

Porkchop is considered as the greatest stand-up act in Philippine history.

Choppy’s partner in performing, Renato “Porky” Gomez, died on August 9, 2008.

Throughout their career that spanned 30 years, Choppy and Porky performed in over 30 countries.

KAMI is hoping that Choppy’s loved ones would find some comfort in their time of great sorrow.
