“We contributed to PGMN because we believed in what it uniquely offered … a platform for free speech,” they stated.

The couple emphasized that their participation was voluntary and not financially motivated.

“We were volunteer content contributors not journalists. We were not employees. We had no contracts, no salary, no talent fee and no commercial arrangement,” they explained.

Edu and Ann also stressed that they contributed their voices and time because they believed Filipinos should have opportunities to express opinions, ask questions, and participate in public discourse freely.

“We gave our time, voices and content because we believed Filipinos should be able to speak, question and take part in public discourse without fear,” the statement continued.

The couple described their involvement as a form of civic engagement rooted in concern for the country and its future.

“For us, this was responsible civic engagement,” they said.

Edu and Ann further explained that as citizens, professionals, and parents, they understand how political and public systems impact families, institutions, businesses, and future generations.

They also acknowledged the many contributors who volunteered for the platform in good faith and without compensation.

“We also genuinely enjoyed working with many fellow contributors who came in with the same patriotic heart and noble intent,” they wrote.

Amid the controversy, the couple stressed that they were not releasing the statement to attack or condemn anyone involved in the legal case.

“We are not issuing this statement to judge, condemn or throw anyone under the bus. Matters of guilt or innocence belong to the proper legal process,” they clarified.

Instead, they said the purpose of their statement was to defend their own character, credibility, and intentions.

“We speak only for ourselves, in defense of our own character, credibility and sincere desire to help our country in whatever way we can,” they added.
