The actress previously shared a photo of herself together with siblings Lotlot de Leon, Kenneth, and Kiko, accompanied by the caption:
“Post ko lang uli. Ito nga pala ang ngiti ng mga ampon na walang mana. Mukha ba kaming may pake?”
The post quickly spread online and sparked discussions among netizens following ongoing public conversations regarding the estate of the late National Artist Nora Aunor.

During the interview, Matet explained that the caption came from years of repeatedly reading painful comments accusing them of being ungrateful adopted children who supposedly had no right to inheritance.
“Eh yun naman po ang sinasabi ng mga tao na ‘wala kayong mana, wala kayong karapatang pamanahan,’ laging ganoon.”
She then shared some of the hurtful statements they have encountered online through the years.
“’Mabuti nga inampon pa kayo, eh ‘yung oras para kay Ian ibinigay pa sa inyo, kaagaw na kayo ni Ian buong-buhay niya. Maging masaya na kayo na binihisan, pinag-aral at pinakain kayo.’”
According to Matet, what deeply upset her was the implication that they were not grateful to Nora Aunor for everything she had done for them.
“Doon po parang kumulo ako na as if we’re not grateful. We’re grateful. I’m here, talking with you Tito Boy because of my mom. I’m Matet because of my mother. So I’m grateful.”
The actress stressed that while some people remain focused on inheritance issues, their family’s real priority right now is grieving the loss of their mother.
“Eh sila puro mana ang nasa isip ng ibang tao, hindi ba?”
Matet later broke down in tears as she pleaded with the public to show compassion and respect toward their family during this painful time.
“Respetuhin niyo naman kami kasi inaalala pa namin si mommy. Hindi po namin iniisip ’yang mana na ’yan and wala kaming hinihingi at wala kaming kini-claim.”
She also defended her brothers, saying they have suffered especially harsh attacks online despite not being public figures themselves.
“But please respect us, not just me but my brothers, too because tinawag na kaming call girl, call boy. ‘Kung hindi kayo kinuha ni Nora Aunor malamang call girl, call boy.’”
Matet questioned how people could say such things, especially considering the values Nora Aunor stood for as both a mother and a respected public figure.
“You think mommy will be happy kapag nalaman niya na sinasabi niyo ’yan? Ako okay lang ako eh, but my brothers, hindi po sila artista.”
Matet de Leon is a veteran Filipina actress who first gained public attention as one of the most recognizable child stars of the 1980s. Over time, she successfully transitioned into respected supporting roles in film and television, earning the affectionate title “Best Friend ng Bayan.” She is the adoptive daughter of the late National Artist Nora Aunor and veteran actor Christopher de Leon. Throughout her decades-long career, Matet has remained active in showbiz and was most recently seen in the action-drama series Black Rider.
In the same interview, Matet also addressed the rumored tension between her and brother Ian De Leon amid discussions surrounding Nora Aunor’s estate. She clarified that the situation was merely a misunderstanding rather than an outright feud. Matet further confirmed that Ian being identified as Nora Aunor’s sole heir was already something the family understood. She also explained that their absence during Nora’s death anniversary mass at the Libingan ng mga Bayani was due to the family still emotionally struggling with grief and not yet being prepared to face the public.
