The actress then confirmed that reports about Ian being the sole heir are true and explained that the family had already long understood the situation even without needing further clarification.

“Totoo naman po, e. Wala naman pong pagdududa du’n. Kumbaga kahit nga hindi na niya sabihin, e. Understandable, alam na po ng lahat ’yan.”

The interview also touched on why Matet and some family members were absent from Nora Aunor’s death anniversary mass held at the Libingan ng mga Bayani, where Ian was reportedly present.

According to Matet, the family was still emotionally struggling with grief and was simply not prepared to face the public and the fans during such a painful time.

“What happened last year, it was very, very painful for us, and sa mga nawalan, naiintindihan ninyo na babalik po lahat what happened nu’ng araw na ’yun. We were not ready at all to face the fans. We were not ready.”
