Chris Cahilig has spoken about his new duties as the interim manager of Bea Alonzo following the resignation of the actress’ former manager, Shirley Kuan.

In an interview with entertainment columnist Dolly Anne Carvajal for PhilStar, Cahilig discussed what it is like to take on the management responsibilities of an actress with Bea’s stature in Philippine show business.
Cahilig was asked about the biggest challenge he expects to face while managing the award-winning actress. He admitted that he does not yet know exactly what the biggest challenge will be, although he has already experienced one particular adjustment: the increased public attention that comes with the position.
“I don’t know yet. But so far, it’s probably the unwanted attention that comes with it. I’ve always been low-key. I’m more comfortable working behind the scenes and seeing others shine from a distance,” Cahilig said.

Cahilig was also asked about his approach when giving advice to the artists he manages, specifically whether he tells them what they want to hear or what they need to hear.
The interim manager said he chooses honesty while making sure that his words remain diplomatic and respectful.
For Cahilig, honesty is a fundamental part of building a professional relationship and is not something that should be sacrificed.
Cahilig also shared his thoughts on what makes an artist-manager partnership successful. Rather than allowing personal interests or ego to interfere, he believes both sides should trust each other and understand their respective responsibilities.
“We should be able to let each other do our respective roles without ego or personal interests getting in the way,” Cahilig said.
His comments come following Kuan’s departure from her role as Bea’s manager. The change has attracted attention in entertainment circles, particularly after Kuan discussed the circumstances surrounding her resignation.
According to a report by GMA News, Kuan said the “last straw” that prompted her to resign was being disinvited from an event that was part of a deal she had closed for Bea.
Kuan recalled being informed by the client that she was no longer invited to the event.
“I was told by the client that I’m disinvited,” she said, according to the report.
She added that she believed she already understood what had happened even though the client apparently did not disclose the reason to her.
“I already know what happened even if the client didn’t want to tell me. In other words, I already know who it is,” Kuan said.
The former manager also acknowledged that the situation was personally upsetting for her, saying she would be hypocritical if she claimed otherwise.
“I’ll be a hypocrite if I tell you I’m not offended,” she said.
Kuan further described the incident as something she had never experienced before and questioned why she was treated that way.
Bea Alonzo has built an acclaimed career as one of Philippine entertainment’s most respected actresses. She became widely known through television dramas such as Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay, Maging Sino Ka Man, and A Love to Last, while her film credits include popular productions like One More Chance and The Mistress. Her ability to handle emotionally demanding roles and shift between different types of characters has helped establish her as one of the leading actresses of her generation. Because of her prominent status in the industry, her relationships and major personal decisions have also frequently attracted public interest.
