During her appearance on Karmina Constantino’s podcast “KC After Hours,” the actress reflected on how facing cancer changed her perspective about time. For Abad, the familiar reminder that life is short became much more real after everything she experienced.

“Treasure life. Life is short. Totoo pala talaga ’yun,” Abad said.

The actress emphasized the importance of spending meaningful time with family, particularly with her children. She explained that this realization has also affected the way she approaches possible acting projects.

“Treasure your time with your kids, with your family. Kaya rin siguro ’pag may offers na serye, hindi na muna siguro kasi baka pa ’yung youngest so I still want to be with him while growing,” she said.

Abad’s decision reflects a desire to remain present during an important period in her youngest child’s life. Rather than immediately accepting every opportunity that comes her way, she appears to be weighing those offers against the value of being there as her child grows.

For the actress, the experience also reinforced the importance of letting go of conflicts. She advised people not to spend their limited time and energy holding on to anger toward those who may have wronged them.

“Kung kayang to forgive ’yung mga taong nakasalang mga kaaway, huwag nang magbuhos ng bad energy kung may nakaaway. Just forget, enjoy life,” she said.

Abad’s message was not only about emotional well-being. She also stressed the importance of taking care of one’s physical health and avoiding habits that could negatively affect the body.

“And huwag mag-take advantage sa katawan. Number one your health,” she said.

Another realization involved money and the way she chooses to spend it. Abad admitted that she has traditionally been careful with her finances, describing herself as “kuripot.” However, her experience with cancer made her reconsider whether being overly frugal was always worthwhile.

“Kuripot kasi ako pero ngayon parang naisip ko… paano kung konti na lang ’yung days na nandito ako? So, medyo gumagastos na ako ng konti ngayon,” she said.

Kaye Abad is a Filipino-American actress whose career has been established through numerous television and film projects in the Philippines. Her major breakthrough came with the teen drama “Tabing Ilog,” in which she played Epifania “Eds” Delos Santos. She went on to appear in teleseryes including “Annaliza” and “Nang Ngumiti Ang Langit.” Outside her acting career, Abad is married to actor and businessman Paul Jake Castillo.

Abad previously revealed that she had already imagined herself becoming a homemaker when she was only 18. Although she left showbiz during a period when her career was doing well, she said she has no regrets about stepping away. She recalled receiving another television offer following the success of “Two Wives,” but her wish to establish a family eventually became more important to her than continuing to pursue acting at that point in her life.

Earlier, Abad spoke candidly about the emotional and personal difficulties surrounding her breast cancer journey during her appearance on Karmina Constantino’s podcast “KC After Hours.” She explained that simply telling someone with cancer to “be strong” can be difficult because patients have to deal with uncertainty over their treatment, recovery, and how their bodies will respond. Abad also discussed feeling insecure about her appearance as a result of medication and being unable to dye her hair because of concerns involving chemicals. She found encouragement from friends who reassured her and continued to compliment her appearance. Despite having support from her loved ones, Abad stressed that the experience was deeply personal and that much of the struggle ultimately had to be faced within herself.
