Because of the incident, the LTO immediately suspended the driver's license for 90 days while the agency conducts its investigation. The driver, along with the registered owner or operator of the jeep, has also been issued a show-cause order requiring them to explain what happened. The report was featured in GMA News' Unang Balita, with Von Aquino reporting the developments.
Based on the agency's initial investigation, the driver may face administrative charges for reckless driving and other possible violations. LTO officials are also verifying whether the jeep has a valid franchise and registration or if it is operating illegally.
LTO officials said, "Initially po ano 'yan, reckless 'yan pero titingnan din natin kung talagang may prangkisa 'yan. Baka colorum 'yan jeep na 'yan." They added that a hearing has already been scheduled to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Authorities also said they have yet to receive information about the passenger's condition. The LTO noted that the victim may choose to file a separate case against the driver, aside from the administrative proceedings being handled by the agency.
Meanwhile, an official from a jeepney operators' group said they had already spoken with their members regarding so-called "patok" jeeps, but clarified that the vehicle involved in the incident is not among their members. The official also warned operators of illegally operating or reckless public utility vehicles that authorities will continue enforcing traffic laws and conducting inspections.
The LTO reiterated that it will continue going after drivers and vehicles found violating road safety regulations to help prevent similar incidents from happening again. The agency said enforcement operations will continue against vehicles with no valid license, registration, or franchise.
