The event occurred in Barangay Tangub on Tuesday morning, as the women momentarily paused their exercise to take photographs.

According to reports from GMA Regional TV One Western Visayas, Police Lieutenant Colonel Ramel Sarona, head of the Traffic Management Unit (TMU), detailed the sequence of events.

The victims were engaged in their morning jog when they stopped briefly to capture photos. It was at this juncture that they were hit by a pickup truck driven by Fernando Oquina, aged 59.

Video footage from the scene shows bystanders attending to the injured women, who were found lying on the road. Tragically, one of the three women succumbed to her injuries.

Oquina, the pickup truck driver, stated that he did not see the women on the road. The victims' families have indicated their intent to file formal charges against Oquina.

This incident has prompted local authorities to reiterate the importance of road safety for both drivers and pedestrians.
