A 12-year-old sampaguita vendor recently went viral after an altercation with a motorcycle rider, who allegedly refused to buy flowers or give alms.

The incident, captured in a video shared by Frontline Pilipinas, showed the young girl acting aggressively toward both the rider and the backrider.
According to reports, the girl punched the rider in frustration.
She also picked up sand from the roadside and threw it at the rider’s face.

Additionally, it was reported that she spat at them, although this part was not recorded on video.
Concerned citizens who saw the incident promptly reported it to barangay officials.
Local authorities are now aware of the situation and have been looking into the matter.
Following the viral spread of the video, journalists from News5 were able to locate the young girl’s family and speak with her mother.
The mother defended her daughter’s actions, claiming that the rider and his companion had teased the child, which provoked her reaction.
However, there have been no clear details regarding the nature of the alleged teasing.
The incident has sparked discussions online, with many netizens debating whether the child’s behavior was an issue of discipline or a reaction to mistreatment.
Others pointed out the harsh reality that children like her face daily—trying to earn a living on the streets at a young age.

In other news, an elderly man died after he and his wife were ambushed while travelling aboard their pickup truck along a national highway in Buluan, Maguindanao del Sur. According to a report by GMA Regional TV News, the 77-year-old male died while his 66-year-old wife suffered injuries. Reports also state that the 77-year-old male was identified as a manager at an agri-machinery company. Investigators say that the two were tailed by motorcycle-riding gunmen and when they got to a certain, they opened fire, fatally injuring the 77-year-old male and inflicting injuries to his wife.
