Margarita Forés, an award-winning Filipina chef and restaurateur, has recently passed away at the age of 65, as confirmed by her son.

On Tuesday, February 11, Amado Forés took to his Instagram page to upload a white blank post with a saddening note about his mom.

In his post, Amado confirmed the passing of the culinary icon, saying their family is mourning the 'unexpected loss' of Margarita as well.

No cause of death was mentioned in Amado's post, however, he did mention that it was sudden.

"Dear Friends and Family, It is with a heavy heart that I share the sudden passing of my Mom, Margarita A. Forés. Our family is mourning this unexpected loss, and we kindly ask for your prayers during this time. We will be able to share more in due time," Amado had written.

Following Amado's post, countless celebrities have mourned the passing of the Filipina chef.

"So sorry to hear this. Our sincerest condolences, Amado. Sending prayers," Small Laude, a known socialite, commented on social media.

Others including Nadine Lustre, Marian Rivera, Sarah Lahbati, Ruffa Gutierrez, and Dominique Cojuangco expressed their condolences.

"Sending you my sincere condolences, Amado. Love your mom, she will be missed," Ruffa wrote.

Margarita, who is the granddaughter of the late tycoon, J. Amado Araneta, was a well-known figure in the Philippine culinary scene.

She is also known as the woman behind the Italian restaurant, Cibo, which opened in 1997.

According to reports, the Italian restaurant has over 20 branches all over the Philippines.

Following the success of her restaurant, Margarita also launched other dining favorites including, Lusso, Grace Park, Alta, and The Loggia.

In 2016, Margarita solidified her career and legacy after being named Asia's Best Female Chef as part of The World's 50 Best Restaurants.

Needless to say, many were deeply saddened by a culinary icon's sudden passing this year.
