This was her answer to the request of Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano for the OVP, which belongs to the executive department, and the Senate and its members, which belong to the legislative, to observe a cordial exchange.

“As a senator, naiintidinhan ko si Senator Risa na siyempre mas gusto kong cordial yung sagutan but we also have to take into context that this is both legislative and political. And there are attacks against the Vice President regardless saan nanggagaling so a little bit of latitude dahil we want kakampi man o kalaban to feel welcome,” the legislator from Taguig said.

Earlier during the same Senate hearing, the Vice President and Sen. Risa Hontiveros engaged in a heated exchange over the projects proposed by the Office of the Vice President or OVP.

This was after the legislator questioned some OVP projects which she said appeared to be a duplicate of line agencies.

During the Senate hearing for the proposed budget of the Office of the Vice President, heated words were exchanged between VP Sara Duterte and Sen. Risa Hontiveros. Earlier, Sen. Hontiveros asked the OVP on why they should be given budget for programs that are already undertaken by line agencies. After a few questions, Sen. Risa asked the OVP about the book “Isang Kaibigan,” which reportedly had a budget of P10 million. From then on, the exchange became heated with allegations about the past 2016 elections dragged into the conversation.

In another news, Sen. Risa made a privilege speech where she revealed that former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo already left the country on July 17. According to Sen. Risa, Guo entered Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on July 18 and from there, went to Singapore to meet up with her family. Sen. Risa then asked on how was Guo able to evade the watchful eyes of the government and who helped her. The legislator then requested for an in-depth investigation into the matter and who was Guo's accomplice.
