It can be recalled that the sudden demise of the “Meteor Garden” star, fondly called by many by her character in the said series, “Shan Cai,” shocked many, particularly those in the Asian entertainment industry.
In a report by Asia One, it quoted an Ilgan Sports report quoting DJ Koo as saying that he’s not okay.
This was after the said publication sought confirmation from him regarding reports about the death of his wife.

Asia One also said that Ilgan Sports reported DJ Koo saying in a sad and grieving voice that Hsu’s death is “not fake news.”
“It's not fake news,” DJ Koo reportedly said, as quoted by Ilgan Sports.
Earlier, reports of the famous Taiwanese actress dying started circulating on social media, though there wasn’t enough credible sources at the time to confirm the sad news.
Eventually, her sister, Dee Hsu, came out with a statement through her agency in the entertainment industry, and confirmed that Barbie has indeed died.

Also, in an article by Focus Taiwan, the tragic news was also confirmed by her sister on Monday through her agent. According to reports, Barbie Hsu succumbed to pneumonia after getting it during their Japan tour for the Chinese New Year period. Barbie Hsu became popularly known as 'Shan Cai' in the 2001 Taiwan TV drama series 'Meteor Garden' where she was the leading lady of another Taiwan star Jerry Yan.
It can be recalled that Barbie Hsu's sister, Dee Hsu, issued an emotional message about the sudden passing of her sister. In an article written by Focus Taiwan, she expressed her heartbreak in losing her beloved sister. It can be recalled that Barbie Hsu's passing was confirmed by her family and in Dee Hsu's case, she confirmed it by telling to Barbie's agent. "Our whole family came to Japan for a trip, and my dearest and most kindhearted sister Barbie Hsu died of influenza-induced pneumonia and unfortunately left us," Dee Hsu said in a statement.
