Batang babae sa Las Piñas, nasawi dahil sa exposed wire ng clip fan

Mai, an 11-year-old girl, died after she came into contact with an exposed wire from a clip fan at their home in Las Piñas City.

In a report by Bam Alegre shared on GMA News’ Balitanghali, the child’s father, Noel Advincula, said the end of the fan’s wire had been damaged.
“Electric fan nga raw po ang sanhi doon sa pagkakuryente kasi ‘yung dulo niyan naputol po eh,” he said.
Advincula explained that the exposed end of the wire touched the family’s metal double-deck bed.

His daughter had reportedly just fetched water because their water service had been disconnected. She and the floor were wet when the accident occurred.
“Ngayon, ‘yung kaputol no’n dumikit sa double deck namin. Itong anak ko naman kasi basa, tapos basa na rin ‘yung flooring kasi nga nag-igib siya,” the father shared.
Mai’s grandmother initially thought the child was only joking when she saw her shaking. She tried to hold the girl but was also shocked.
The child’s younger sibling then attempted to help and also felt the electric current. The sibling was able to let go and warned their grandmother that electricity was involved.
Advincula was working as a tricycle driver when the accident happened. He only saw his daughter at the hospital, where she had already passed away.
The grieving father recalled pleading with his child to keep fighting.
“‘Nak, laban ka naman. Huminga ka. Sige na, gumalaw ka kahit isa lang,” he said.
He also described Mai as a sweet and loving child who would visit him at the tricycle terminal. According to him, she would hug and kiss him whenever they saw each other.
“Wala ka pong masabi sa kaniya. Malambing po siya,” Advincula said.
Aside from grieving Mai’s death, the family is also facing difficulties in arranging her burial.
Barangay Talon Uno Captain Irene Gallardo explained that the family encountered a problem in securing free burial assistance. Their registered address is in Las Piñas, but the funeral home handling the child’s remains is in Bacoor.
Gallardo said she had posted an appeal on social media asking either the Las Piñas or Bacoor local government to assist the family.

In another report, an unidentified male suspect was arrested for allegedly threatening and intimidating a 45-year-old tenant in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. Barangay tanods who were on patrol aboard a tricycle happened to pass by and immediately crossed the street to stop the commotion.
