An unidentified male suspect was arrested for allegedly threatening and intimidating a 45-year-old tenant in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.

According to Gabriel Gonzalez’s report on GMA’s Unang Balita, police found the suspect inside a convenience store along Quirino Highway.

Video footage showed the authorities approaching the man and ordering him to lie on the floor. He was immediately placed under arrest.

Police said the victim was renting a property in the area. Based on their initial investigation, the group allegedly went there to collect money that the victim supposedly owed them.

An officer said the suspects apparently intended to frighten the victim because of the alleged unpaid amount.

Authorities are also investigating a claim that the debt may have been connected to illegal drúgs. However, police emphasized that the allegation has not yet been confirmed.

The victim reportedly managed to escape from the suspects and sought assistance from barangay officials. The barangay then contacted the local police station and requested immediate help.

Police officers searched for the group after receiving the report. They eventually located one of the suspects hiding inside the convenience store, while four others managed to flee.

During questioning, the arrested man reportedly identified his four companions. He also claimed that they knew more about the group’s purpose for approaching the victim.

However, the suspect denied being personally acquainted with the other men. He claimed that he had only been asked to accompany them.

“Sinama lang po kasi ako doon ng time na ’yan eh,” the suspect said.

He further alleged that he had been instructed to place something on a shelf and wait inside the store. According to him, one of his companions promised to return for him.

Police are still pursuing the four other suspects who escaped. Investigators are also trying to obtain a complete statement from the victim regarding the accusation that he was involved in an illegal activity.

Authorities clarified that the possible connection between the victim and illegal drúgs remains under investigation. They have yet to establish whether the allegation has any factual basis.

Two loaded firearms were recovered from the arrested suspect. Police said the weapons were not covered by the necessary licenses or documents.

The man may face complaints for grave threats and illegal possession of firearms. The final charges will depend on the evidence gathered during the continuing investigation.

The victim had reportedly dropped off his passenger in Kaunlar Village, Barangay 20, Caloocan, at around 1:30 a.m. Moments later, the passenger allegedly attacked the rider by repeatedly stabbing him in the side with an ice pick.
