A 46-year-old motorcycle taxi rider was allegedly killed by his own passenger after being stabbed with an ice pick in Caloocan early Tuesday morning.

The suspect also allegedly stole the victim's motorcycle before fleeing, according to a report on GMA News' Balitanghali.

The victim had reportedly dropped off his passenger in Kaunlar Village, Barangay 20, Caloocan, at around 1:30 a.m. Moments later, the passenger allegedly attacked the rider by repeatedly stabbing him in the side with an ice pick.

Despite his injuries, the rider managed to run away from the scene. Two men who were nearby and drinking witnessed the incident and attempted to help.

One of the witnesses recalled how they were alarmed after seeing the attack.

"Sabi ko, 'Pre, tingnan mo 'yun kung ano 'yung nangyari kasi naalarma po kami.'"

The witness also claimed the suspect threatened him while trying to stop the escape.

"Sabi sa akin na babarilin kita. Eh sabi ko, sige putok mo."

The attacker then allegedly sped away using the victim's motorcycle.

The rider was rushed to a hospital but later died from his injuries.

The victim's family expressed deep grief over the tragic incident and appealed for justice.

"Hindi po namin siya mapapatawad. Naghahanap-buhay lang po 'yung kapatid ko. Bakit ganyan ang ginawa niya? Wala siyang kalaban-laban."

According to police, the suspect resurfaced just hours after the stabbing. He allegedly snatched a cellphone worth around P7,000 from a man walking in Barangay Longos, Malabon.

Residents reportedly chased and caught the suspect before police officers arrived and placed him under arrest.

Investigators said the 43-year-old suspect allegedly targets motorcycle taxi riders during late-night and early morning hours to steal their motorcycles.

Police also linked him to another motorcycle theft reported on July 11 involving another rider in Malabon.

During questioning, the suspect apologized and claimed he did not intend to kill the victim.

"Nabigla lang po ako. Pasensya po sir. Hindi naman po sinasadya."

Authorities recovered both the ice pick believed to have been used in the stabbing and the victim's stolen motorcycle.

The suspect remains detained at the Malabon City Police Station. He is expected to face complaints for alleged violations of the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016, as well as robbery and h*micide.

In other news, a tragic altercation in Bocaue resulted in the death of a 45-year-old woman after she was reportedly attacked by her younger half-brother. Law enforcement officials indicated that the conflict was triggered by a disagreement regarding a request for fare money. The victim suffered several fatal injuries during the encounter and was pronounced dead prior to her arrival at the local hospital. Following the incident, the 33-year-old suspect was taken into custody by police and is anticipated to be charged with murder.
