An 85-year-old woman died after she was attacked inside her home in Barangay Poblacion, Mangaldan, Pangasinan.

According to a report on GMA’s Unang Balita, the senior citizen was found inside the residence on Friday evening. Authorities responded to the area after the incident was discovered.

The report said the victim sustained injuries after allegedly being struck with a piece of wood. She did not survive the attack.

Police officers searched the area as part of their initial investigation. They recovered a two-by-two wooden plank believed to have been used in the crime.

The recovered object may help investigators determine what happened inside the house. It could also provide information that may support the ongoing investigation.

The victim had reportedly dropped off his passenger in Kaunlar Village, Barangay 20, Caloocan, at around 1:30 a.m. Moments later, the passenger allegedly attacked the rider by repeatedly stabbing him in the side with an ice pick.
