An 8-year-old student died after allegedly being struck with a notebook by a classmate at a school in Davao City. The incident was reported on GMA's Balitanghali.

According to the report, the incident happened on Friday, July 17, inside a school in Davao City. The child reportedly complained of body pain after the alleged incident.
Instead of being taken to a hospital immediately, the child was first brought to a traditional healer, according to the report. However, the pain reportedly did not go away.
Three days later, the child was finally brought to a hospital after the symptoms persisted. Just a few hours after being admitted, the 8-year-old passed away.

The report stated that the child's cause of death was brain failure and traumatic brain injury.
According to the police, the victim's mother went to the police station to report the alleged bullying her child had experienced. Authorities are now looking into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
As of this writing, the school's administration has not released an official statement regarding the case.
Meanwhile, the Department of Education Davao City Division has already launched an investigation to determine what happened and whether school policies were properly followed.
Authorities have not yet released additional details about the investigation or whether anyone will face possible charges. The case remains under investigation.

The suspect also allegedly stole the victim's motorcycle before fleeing, according to a report on GMA News' Balitanghali. The victim had reportedly dropped off his passenger in Kaunlar Village, Barangay 20, Caloocan, at around 1:30 a.m. Moments later, the passenger allegedly attacked the rider by repeatedly stabbing him in the side with an ice pick.
In other developments, a man allegedly selling illegal drúgs through live selling on social media managed to escape a buy-bust operation conducted by police in Iloilo City. Authorities said they had been monitoring the suspect after learning that he was allegedly using live-selling sessions to sell illegal drúgs online. Based on their surveillance, police immediately planned and carried out an operation against him.
