A barangay councilor and lawyer was injured after being shot in Barangay Olympia, Makati City, on Thursday morning. The incident was reported by Balitanghali.

According to police, the victim was on his way to his office when he was attacked by unidentified gunmen. He sustained a gunshot wound and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Authorities identified the victim as a lawyer who also serves as a barangay councilor in a neighboring village. As of this writing, investigators have not released the identities of the suspects.

Police are still working to determine the motive behind the attack. Investigators are gathering evidence and reviewing all possible leads as part of the ongoing investigation.

Meanwhile, A 46-year-old motorcycle taxi rider was allegedly killed by his own passenger after being stabbed with an ice pick in Caloocan early Tuesday morning. The suspect also allegedly stole the victim's motorcycle before fleeing, according to a report on GMA News' Balitanghali. The victim had reportedly dropped off his passenger in Kaunlar Village, Barangay 20, Caloocan, at around 1:30 a.m. Moments later, the passenger allegedly attacked the rider by repeatedly stabbing him in the side with an ice pick.

In other developments, a man allegedly selling illegal drúgs through live selling on social media managed to escape a buy-bust operation conducted by police in Iloilo City. Authorities said they had been monitoring the suspect after learning that he was allegedly using live-selling sessions to sell illegal drúgs online. Based on their surveillance, police immediately planned and carried out an operation against him.
