An American national was injured after he was allegedly stabbed by a man asking for alms in Bacolod City, according to a report from “Unang Balita.”

Based on CCTV footage shown in the news segment, a man wearing a hat approached the foreigner outside a convenience store. The suspect appeared to whisper something to the victim before suddenly pulling out a knife and pointing it at the American’s side.
The foreigner immediately tried to run away after noticing the weapon. However, the suspect reportedly chased him. The actual stabbing incident was no longer captured on camera, but authorities said the American later sustained a wound on his side.
Reports said the victim is now in stable condition and is already recovering from the injury.

According to the partner of the foreigner, the suspect allegedly asked them for ₱10. However, they were unable to give money because they did not have cash at the time.
“Ayon sa partner ng biktima, humingi ng ₱10 ang lalaki pero hindi nabigyan dahil wala silang cash,” the report stated.
The victim and his partner are reportedly planning to file a police report once they return from their vacation. As of now, police authorities have yet to release additional details regarding the suspect’s identity or possible charges.
The incident drew concern online after the CCTV footage circulated in news reports. Many netizens expressed alarm over the safety of both locals and tourists in public places. Others also hoped for the immediate recovery of the victim.
The report did not mention whether the suspect had already been arrested. Authorities are expected to continue investigating the incident to determine the full circumstances behind the stabbing.
