The victim was fatally shot after a meeting orchestrated under the guise of a potential car sale.

Initial investigations by the Parañaque City Police Department revealed that the victim had arranged to meet two individuals who arrived on a motorcycle.

The purported buyers expressed interest in inspecting and test-driving a sport utility vehicle (SUV) that the agent had listed for sale.

According to Police Major General Anthony Aberin, the Regional Director of the National Capital Region Police Office, the suspects contacted the victim through a Facebook advertisement for the vehicle.

They directed the seller to a specific location and convinced him that the SUV needed to be inspected by a mechanic before they would finalize the purchase.

The victim agreed to this arrangement. Subsequently, the suspects arrived, posing as the mechanics.

It was during the supposed test drive of the SUV that one of the suspects allegedly opened fire on the victim.

The agent sustained two fatal gunshot wounds to his side. Amidst the chaos, two other agents who were accompanying the victim managed to flee the scene unharmed.

A swift hot pursuit operation launched by the police resulted in the apprehension of the two primary suspects in Barangay Don Bosco.

Further investigation led to the arrest of three other men believed to be accomplices in the crime.

In addition to two firearms, authorities recovered approximately 15 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as “shabu,” with an estimated street value exceeding P100,000 from the arrested individuals.

Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage captured one of the suspects abandoning the stolen SUV in a parking lot in Barangay Don Bosco before fleeing on the back of the other suspect's motorcycle.

Police Brigadier General Joseph Arguelles, the District Director of the Southern Police District, stated that the incident appeared to be a case of car theft disguised as a legitimate purchase.

The suspects allegedly used the pretense of being buyers to gain access to the vehicle with the intention of stealing it.

The NCRPO has identified the group as a potential “gun-for-hire” syndicate with prior involvement in murder cases in Parañaque City dating back to 2016 and 2017.

The arrested suspects will face a string of serious charges, including murder, violation of Republic Act 10883 (the Anti-Carnapping Law), Republic Act 10591 (Illegal Possession of Firearms), and Republic Act 9165, also known as the Dangerous Drug5 Act.

The swift action of the Parañaque City Police Department led to the prompt arrest of the suspects, preventing their further escape and potentially uncovering a larger criminal operation.

The recovery of illegal drug5 alongside the firearms also suggests the involvement of the suspects in other illicit activities beyond car theft and murder.
