Tessa Prieto, a Filipino socialite and philanthropist, made headlines after filing a legal complaint against her former partner, Angel Chua.

In the article of PEP, Tessa accused her former partner of violating the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act (VAWC).

VAWC is a known law that refers to any act or a 'series of acts' "causing physical harm to the woman or her child" or "placing the woman or her child in fear of imminent physical harm."

During an interview with PEP, Tessa even talked about the matter with her former partner, "I didn’t want to aggravate her because I knew our fights were already getting more and more violent."

The well-known socialite formally submitted the case before the Prosecutor's Office in Makati.

Furthermore, in News 5's report, Tessa claimed that Angel even took a video of her at one point while she was getting hurt by the latter.

Eventually, Angel also filed a counter-affidavit, denying all of Tessa's accusations against them.

Now, the case has been apparently raised to the Department of Justice (DOJ) in the Philippines.

It is worth noting that Tessa is married to Dennis Valdes, a businessman who is related to the Ongpin clan, a known affluent family.

However, in August 2022, ABS-CBN wrote a report about Tessa opening up on her split with her husband of 26 years for the first time.

While Tessa mentioned she went through some tough times, the socialite claimed she has no regrets whatsoever about the marriage.

Tessa and Dennis, during their 26-year marriage, welcomed four children together, namely, Bryan, Tyrone, Annika, and Athena Marean.
