The sampaguita girl who went viral after she had an altercation with a security guard of SM Mandaluyong was confirmed by Mandaluyong Police Chief Col. Mary Grace Madayag to be an 18-year-old girl.

In ABS-CBN's report, Madayag said that she was also reportedly studying at a private school but not part of the syndicate.

Madayag also noted that she is intelligent and was trying to sell flowers to have an additional income.

Earlier, John Arcilla shared his two cents on the viral video a security guard shooing away a girl selling sampaguita garlands at SM Megamall.

The veteran actor also aired support for the child vendor and called out the guard.

In the comments section of his post, John also replied to a netizen's suggestion that the incident should get probed.

The actor stressed that the child vendor should not be mistreated even if claims that she's not a real student are true.

John Arcilla is an acclaimed actor and environmentalist from the Philippines. He is best known for playing the lead role of Antonio Luna in the historical drama, 'Heneral Luna'. John won the Best Actor Award at the 78th Venice Film Festival for his lead role in the film 'On the Job: The Missing 8.'

John Arcilla has taken to Facebook and aired his thoughts on reading private messages. He said that someone asked him and his answer is that he does not want to judge. He also noted that he was not able to read everything but admitted that he already felt ashamed at the start while reading. John was also asking why the messages were not deleted, and said that the motive behind everything was not good.
