A 51-year-old retired police officer was shot and killed in Quezon, Nueva Ecija, after he was allegedly attacked by a businessman with whom he reportedly had a longstanding dispute, according to police.

A report aired on GTV News Balitanghali on Friday said the fatal shooting took place in Barangay Pulong Bahay on Thursday. Initial findings from investigators showed that the victim was already on his way home when the suspect approached him and opened fire.
Authorities are examining an earlier conflict between the two men as the possible motive behind the killing. Investigators have yet to disclose the nature of their reported disagreement as they continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses.
Hours after the shooting, the suspected gunman voluntarily surrendered to law enforcement authorities. He also handed over the licensed firearm believed to have been used in the attack.

The businessman is now facing a murder complaint in connection with the incident. Police have not yet released additional information regarding the filing of charges or any possible aggravating circumstances that may be considered during the investigation.

Meanwhile, a tragic road accident in Roxas, Isabela, left two people dead after a pickup truck crashed into a metal roadside barrier along the national highway in Barangay Lucban. Three other passengers were injured in the crash and were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Authorities are still investigating the circumstances that led to the fatal incident.
In another development, police are looking into an incident in Passi, Iloilo, where CCTV footage showed several men removing a warning sign installed near an ongoing road repair site. Shortly after the sign was taken away, a motorcycle passed through the area and crashed into the unfinished section of the road. The rider and passenger both sustained injuries and later reported the incident to local village officials. Investigators have already identified the individuals captured on camera, but no face-to-face meeting between the suspects and the complainants has taken place as the case remains under investigation.
