33-year-old man arrested over alleged assault of male minor inside Davao internet café

A 33-year-old man was taken into police custody after he allegedly r@ped a male victim inside an internet café in Agdao District, Davao City, following a complaint filed by the victim's family.

Based on a report by Jandi Esteban on GMA Regional TV One Mindanao, the victim had gone to the internet café, which was owned by the suspect, to play computer games before the alleged assault occurred.

Authorities said the suspect allegedly took advantage of the situation when no one else was inside the establishment. Investigators said the man allegedly touched the victim's private parts before forcing him into a room, where the alleged r@pe took place.

After leaving the internet café, the victim returned home and disclosed the incident to his grandmother. She later informed the victim's mother, prompting the family to seek assistance from law enforcement authorities.

Police later arrested the suspect at the same computer shop after the family reported the incident. The victim's mother became emotional upon seeing the suspect in police custody and said she is determined to pursue legal action against him.

According to the mother, her son told her that he felt he could no longer do anything while the abuse was taking place. She said he decided not to resist because he wanted the ordeal to end so he could leave the establishment and report what had happened.

The mother also expressed her hope that the suspect would face the full consequences of the law and remain imprisoned if found guilty of the charge.

The suspect is currently detained and is facing a r@pe complaint. He declined to give any statement regarding the allegation.

Authorities have yet to release additional details as the investigation continues. They also urged victims and their families to report cases of s#xual abuse immediately to ensure that appropriate legal action can be taken and that survivors receive the protection and support they need throughout the investigation.

Meanwhile, two people lost their lives in a tragic road accident in Roxas, Isabela, after the pickup truck they were riding crashed into a steel guardrail along the national highway in Barangay Lucban. Authorities said the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road, hit several trees, overturn, and land upside down in a muddy rice field. Three other passengers sustained injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, while police continue to investigate what caused the fatal crash.

In separate news, authorities in Passi, Iloilo, are investigating an incident in which several men were caught on CCTV removing a warning sign placed beside an ongoing road repair project. Shortly after the barrier was taken away, an approaching motorcycle fell into the unmarked section of the road, leaving both the rider and passenger injured. The victims have already reported the incident to village officials. Police have identified the individuals seen in the footage, although they have yet to meet with the complainants as the investigation continues.
