NBI, may sinabi ukol pag-share screenshot ng private convos: “Depende po 'yun doon sa naapektuhan”

- According to the NBI, those whose private conversations are leaked online have the option for a legal recourse

- NBI Chief Jaime Santiago said then mentioned the specific law that those injured by said leak can use

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has issued a statement regarding individuals whose private conversatons were leaked to the public.

This came on the heels of the viral posts shared by Jamela Villanueva, the ex-girlfriend of Anthony Jennings.

Said posts consisted of several screenshots of alleged conversations between Anthony and his on-screen partner, singer-actress Maris Racal.

It can be recalled that the said conversations, which happened at different times, included some really controversial statements.

According to NBI Chief Jaime Santiago, persons whose private conversations were shared in public have the option whether to go after the person who shared their private message or not.

“‘Yung mga ano, private conversation tapos ia-ano, tapos ipasasa public, eh depende po 'yun doon sa naapektuhan na tao kung gusto niyang habulin 'yung mga nagpo-post ng kanilang private messages,” he said during an interview on Super Radyo dzBB.

“Nasa sa kanila po 'yun, pupuwede po silang mag-file din ng kaso,” Santiago said.

He further underscored that this is covered by the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

Complaints arising out of these incidents may be filed with the NBI Cybercrime Division or the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group.

News, photos or videos that arouse the interest of netizens would often go viral on social media, due to the attention netizens give them. These viral posts appeal to the emotions of netizens, and in rare cases, such could also happen to ordinary people, making them very relatable to almost everyone.

Meanwhile, one of those whose name, though not a party to the controversy, was dragged into the mess remained mum. Rico Blanco, the ex-boyfriend of Maris Racal, who recently hugged the headline because of some controversial screenshots of her convo with Anthony Jennings, kept silent all throughout the hullaballoo. It can be recalled that contents of the screenshots, which were shared by Anthony’s ex-GF, Jamela Villanueva, showed supposed cheating convo between the actor and Maris. Said screenshots spread like wildfire, with many netizens making speculations about the past relationship of Rico and Maris Rico and Maris parted ways several months ago after being together as a couple for more than three years.

Previously, Rico's photo calmly watching a game of volleyball also went viral. In a photo shared by the Premier Volleyball League, one can see the singer-songwriter calmly observing the game. He was seated between two women, though it wasn’t clear if they were his companions. The singer-songwriter’s name once again became a hot topic of discussion after controversial screenshots of alleged conversation between his ex-GF, Maris Racal, and her on-screen partner, Anthony Jennings, surfaced on social media.
