Bamban Mayor has officially been removed as a member of the National People's Coalition (NPC) following the filing of charges against her, due to an alleged involvement with the POGO that was raided in her town.

The letter that speaks of her removal was released by NPC chairman Vicente "Tito" Sotto III, a GMA News report stated.

“The NPC will not tolerate any unlawful acts or any appearance of impropriety by its members that will undermine the principle of our party,” the letter stated as per Philstar.

“In view thereof, I will be directing our Secretary General, Sec. Mark Llandro Mendoza to implement the said order and immediately inform Mayor Guo of her removal from the party," the letter stated.

The removal from party of the suspended mayor was a response to Tarlac Governor Susan Yap's petition, which was filed on June 17. Yap recommended the removal, as per ABS-CBN.

Alice Leal Guo is the Mayor of the Municipality of Bamban, Tarlac. She won as mayor during the national elections in 2022. She became known nationwide after her name was dragged into the ongoing Senate investigations regarding Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations or (POGO) and the alleged proliferation of illegal immigrants. Her name has been the subject of many online memes since then.

In a related article published last year, social media influencer Madam Kilay previously aired her sentiments about some vloggers who promote betting online. According to her, these people should stop doing so as they already earn from posting content. It didn't take long for her post to go viral on the said social media platform. She even created a new video, highlighting her thoughts about the matter.

In another related news posted several years ago, DOLE confirmed that the number of Chinese illegal workers in the Philippines appeared to have increased. Philippine senators, at the time, expressed their opinion about the matter. They said the government should be stricter in granting permits.
