SexBomb Girls member Mhyca Bautista looked back on the unusual steps she took as a young aspiring dancer to get closer to her dream of becoming part of the popular all-girls dance group.

During her guest appearance with Johlan Veluz on the “YouLOL Originals” vodcast, Mhyca shared how her admiration for SexBomb pushed her to audition despite being much younger than the age requirement at the time.
Mhyca revealed that she was only 12 years old when she decided to join the competition that was searching for the next SexBomb dancer.
She admitted that she lied about her age and claimed she was already 16 so she could qualify for the audition.

“Nag-start po ako 12-years-old pero dinaya ko 'yung edad ko sabi ko 16 na ako.”
According to Mhyca, her decision was largely driven by how much she admired the members of SexBomb.
“Sobrang idol ko kasi 'yung SexBomb… Dinaya ko [sa] sobrang idol ko.”
Her journey began in Pampanga, where she had already been performing with a local dance group inspired by the famous girl group.
“From Pampanga nag-audition po ako, kasama ko 'yung pinsan ko nag-audition talaga ako, kasi sobrang idol ko yan sina Ate Johlan, elementary ako nanonood pa ako ng Daisy Siete. 'Tapos sa Pampanga meron kaming grupo dun na parang SexBomb din ako si Ate Rochelle dun [laughs]. Sumasali kami sa contest”
When the audition opportunity came, Mhyca said her cousin encouraged her to take the chance despite the age restriction.
“Natuwa ako nung may pa-audition e sabi 16, e 'yung pinsan ko sabi dadayain 'yung edad kahit bawal. Noon kasi hindi masyado mahigpit, madali pa. Walang birth certificate, mag-fifill out puwede na. Eh malaking bulas ako hindi na masyado halata.”
Mhyca eventually won the grand finals, but the victory did not immediately result in her becoming a member of SexBomb.
Instead, she became part of Showdown Sweethearts, which she described as a group positioned alongside SexBomb.
“Parang katapatan ng SexBomb--- Showdown Sweethearts tapos SexBomb. 'Tapos two years 'yun, nawala, kinuha ako ni Ate Joy [Cancio] kaming tatlo nila Louise. Ang sabi kulang lang daw 'yung SexBomb sa Eat Bulaga, e, nag-aaral ako nun sabi ko, 'Parang pagkakataon ko na 'to, kasi chance na 'to kasi kulang daw 'yung SexBomb'”
The opportunity eventually brought Mhyca back from Pampanga to Manila as her long-awaited chance to join the group became more concrete.
“So lumuwas kami ulit from Pampanga hanggang sa nagtuloy-tuloy na, hanggang pinapirma na ako ni Ate Joy ng kontrata. So, sobrang tuwang-tuwa na ako hindi ko rin alam kung magkano magiging sahod katulad ni Ate Johlan, kasi sobrang gustong-gusto ko talagang maging SexBomb.”
Mhyca's story highlighted how her childhood admiration for SexBomb eventually became a major part of her career. What began with watching the group on television and joining local competitions eventually led her to audition, win a competition, perform with another group, and finally receive the opportunity she had been hoping for.

Mhyca Bautista is a Filipino singer, dancer, and actress who gained widespread fame as a member of the iconic all-female pop and dance group SexBomb Girls. She is best remembered for her dynamic performances in the hit musical variety show Eat Bulaga! and the long-running afternoon drama series Daisy Siete.
In another report, Mhyca Bautista and Cherry Ann Panganiban opened up about the jealousy and misunderstandings that can sometimes arise among the SexBomb Girls. During their appearance on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” the two acknowledged that such feelings are natural within a large group and can be resolved through honest and mature conversations. Mhyca shared that they continue holding meetings even while on their World Tour to address concerns before they turn into bigger conflicts.
Meanwhile, Mhyca Bautista and Cherry Ann Panganiban also expressed their admiration for Rochelle Pangilinan and the other senior members of the SexBomb Girls. Mhyca described Rochelle as an exceptional leader whom she has looked up to since the beginning of her journey with the group. Cherry Ann, meanwhile, said they see the senior members as their “ate” figures and appreciate the guidance and support they have received from them.
