Aiko Melendez revealed that she initially felt too embarrassed to invite Onemig Bondoc to appear on her YouTube vlog, unaware that the guesting would eventually lead to an unexpected love story between the two former showbiz personalities.

The actress and Onemig recently looked back on how they reconnected after nearly three decades during their appearance on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” on Wednesday, September 23.
Aiko recalled that the idea of inviting Onemig came up while she and her friends were planning guests for her YouTube channel. At the time, Onemig was also being discussed online in connection with a possible comeback movie.
“Kasi I have a YouTube channel and we were conceptualizing who to guest. At that time, parang 'yung show na ino-offer sa kaniya as a comeback movie, pinag-uusapan online. So sabi ng friend ko, 'Why don't we guest Onemig Bondoc?' I kept quiet. Sabi ko, 'Hindi puwede kasi may sama ng loob sa 'kin 'yan.'”

Aiko admitted that she was also hesitant because she knew Onemig had a girlfriend at the time. Her friend, however, reminded her that the invitation was simply for a vlog appearance.
“Aiko, ige-guest mo lang siya, hindi mo siya bo-boyfriend-in. Bakit kailangan kung may girlfriend, e, guest lang naman?”
Eventually, Aiko gathered the courage to message Onemig through Instagram. However, the actor did not immediately accept the invitation. He had already stepped away from showbiz and was also in the middle of a custody battle involving his children.
“I was really hesitant na lumabas sa TV nu'n kasi siyempre I left the business na nang matagal. Parang hindi na 'ko kumportable nun,” Onemig explained.
Two years later, Aiko reached out to him again and invited him to appear on her vlog. This time, Onemig agreed, but only under one condition.
“Before ako nag-guest sa kaniya, sabi ko, 'Isang beses lang, ha? Tapos wala na,'” he said.
Their vlog appearance, however, turned out to be more significant than either of them initially expected.
During a truth-or-dare segment, Aiko was asked whether an actor had ever rejected her. She said she was not expecting Onemig's answer to be about her.
“Kasi the question was: 'May artista na bang bumasted sa 'yo?' And I wasn't even thinking he would be pertaining to me. Sabi niya, 'Oo, 'yung hindi ako sinagot sa Subic.' Namula po ako, so sa sobrang nerbyos ko, Tito-Ninong, ininom ko 'yung shot. Tapos shot ako ng shot,” Aiko recalled.
The moment left Aiko drinking repeatedly until she eventually became drunk. The following day, Onemig started courting her, turning what began as a simple vlog invitation into the beginning of their unexpected romance.
Onemig Bondoc is a Filipino actor, television host, and commercial model who rose to prominence as a popular 1990s matinee idol. He is best known for his breakthrough roles in teen-oriented series like T.G.I.S. and youth-focused hit films such as Trip and Jologs.
In another report, Aiko Melendez and Onemig Bondoc confirmed that both of them have had their previous marriages annulled. The former couple addressed questions surrounding their past marriages and shared details about the status of their respective annulments. Onemig revealed that his annulment was approved in 2021. Aiko and Onemig have also previously opened up about the possibility of getting married in the future.
Meanwhile, Aiko Melendez announced that she and her longtime manager, Ogie Diaz, have decided to end their professional partnership and pursue separate paths. The actress made it clear that their decision only concerns their working relationship and does not affect their friendship. Aiko expressed gratitude for the trust, friendship, and memories they shared throughout the years. She also sent Ogie a warm message, assuring him that she continues to value and care for him despite their professional separation.
