Famous Filipino hip-hop artist Gloc-9 recently shared the deeply emotional and prophetic final conversations he had with the late rap legend Francis Magalona prior to his passing in 2009.

Speaking on the latest episode of the online show "Unshaken with Gary V.," Gloc-9 reflected on how Francis continually reassured him about his musical journey during hospital visits—a comforting promise that the rapper only fully comprehended after stepping up to perform following the icon's death.
During the interview, which was featured in an entertainment report by ABS-CBN News, Gloc-9 opened up about visiting Francis in the hospital while the master rapper was undergoing medical treatment.
During those quiet bedside moments, Francis consistently repeated a coded, comforting phrase using classic Pinoy street slang to encourage his protégé.

Gloc-9 vividly recalled the exact words Francis told him: “Yung namatay si sir Kiks ng 2009, bago siya mamatay, pag binibista ko siya sa ospital, sinasabi niya lagi sa akin, ‘Pag na yatap ako, yeko ka na’ sabi niya. Ibig sabihin nun, kapag nireverse mo yung words–– pag namatay ako, okay ka na ‘Ris.”
At the time, Gloc-9 admitted feeling perplexed by why Francis kept repeating that specific assurance.
The true test of those words arrived immediately after Francis passed away, when producers from the noontime show Eat Bulaga! reached out the very next day asking Gloc-9 to go on air and perform their collaborative track.
Overwhelmed with grief and hesitation, Gloc-9 questioned whether it was appropriate to step into the spotlight so soon after losing his hero.
"Ang first answer ko is bakit? Anong gagawin ko dun? Bakit ako kakanta and nawala na nga si sir Kiks, kakanta pa ako. Ano yun, ihihip-hop ko? Yun ang sabi ko," Gloc-9 shared.
It took a grounded push from his wife, Thea, to change his mind and honor the moment. She offered crucial advice that resonated deeply with him: “Ang sabi sa akin ni Thea, pag hindi ikaw ang kumanta diyan, may ibang kakanta diyan na hindi dapat kumanta diyan.”
