During the media conference for her new show KALURKS!, Ashley admitted that she is still struggling with grief. Her mother passed away in June after battling cancer, making the actress’ latest career milestone especially emotional.

"I'm not okay, to be honest. It's only been two months," Ashley said in a report by Nelson Canlas on 24 Oras.

Despite the pain, Ashley said she is doing her best to remain positive as she begins a new chapter in her career. KALURKS! marks her first show of this kind, making the experience bittersweet because she had hoped to share the achievement with her mother.

"I'm really trying my best na to just stay positive. And I'm really happy kasi first time kong magkaroon ng ganitong klaseng show, and it just sucks na I won't get to share it with my mom because she's my number one fan."

Ashley’s mother was not only someone who supported her career but also her closest companion. The loss, she explained, therefore feels like losing more than one important person in her life.

"And like I always say, I feel like I'm grieving for two people because I didn't just lose my mom, I also lost my best friend."

Still, Ashley continues to find meaning in the blessings that have come her way despite her personal loss. She chose to dedicate her new show and the opportunities surrounding it to her mother, carrying her memory with her as she moves forward.

"Ever since nawala siya, tuloy-tuloy pa rin naman 'yung blessings ko, and I know na she's really guiding me every single day."
