In a Facebook post published on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, Arcilla expressed frustration over the continued issues of corruption and nepotism, emphasizing that citizens deserve leaders who uphold accountability and integrity in public service.
According to the veteran actor, good governance should be a basic expectation for every Filipino. He stressed that the benefits of effective leadership can only be fully realized if corruption and favoritism within government institutions are eliminated.
Arcilla directed much of his message toward younger Filipinos, saying they now hold the responsibility of determining the kind of officials and government the country will have in the years ahead.

“Ito lang ang huli kong sasabihin. Mga Gen Z at Millenials: sa inyo na nakasalalay ang susunod na uri ng mga opisyal at pamahalaan na magkakaroon tayo,” he wrote.
The actor further emphasized the significance of their role in safeguarding the nation from dishonest leaders.
“Nasa inyo ang kaligtasan ng bansang Pilipinas sa mga kamay ng mga kurakot at manloloko.”
Arcilla also criticized a common belief among voters that all politicians are essentially the same. He argued that such thinking contributes to the persistence of corruption and discourages meaningful reform.
He pointed out that there are countries around the world that have managed to maintain lower levels of corruption and stronger governance systems, suggesting that Filipinos should look to these nations as examples.
“Ang piliin ninyong pamantayan ng inyong pangarap ay ang mga bansang hindi korap. May mga bansang hindi korap, pag aralan ninyo at yun ang dapat nating pamantayan.”
The actor encouraged younger generations to reject defeatist attitudes that claim the country no longer has hope because of corruption in government. He warned that as long as people continue to accept those beliefs, meaningful progress will remain difficult to achieve.
“Basagin na ninyo ang mga hungkag na salita na ‘Wala [nang] pag asa ang bayan, at pare-pareho lang naman ang mga politiko’ Hanggat naniniwala kayo sa kaisipan na iyan, walang magbabago sa ating bansa. Tapos magsisisihan na naman tayo. Kayo ang pag-asa ng bayan.”
Concluding his message, Arcilla urged Millennials and Gen Z to envision a nation free from corruption and political dynasties, saying genuine change begins with the standards people choose to uphold.
“Pangarapin ninyo ang bayang malaya sa korupsiyon at magkakamag-anak na nakaupo.”
John Arcilla is an acclaimed Filipino film, television, and stage actor best known for his powerful portrayal of General Antonio Luna in the historical blockbuster film Heneral Luna. He achieved international recognition by winning the prestigious Volpi Cup for Best Actor at the 78th Venice International Film Festival for his performance in On the Job: The Missing 8, making him the first Southeast Asian actor to receive the honor.
In another report, award-winning actor John Arcilla stepped into a new phase of artistic expression with the release of a bold social commentary song. The veteran performer revealed that he worries about how religious organizations and educational institutions might react to the message conveyed in the track. Drawing inspiration from contemporary music trends, he helped write the song as a way to express the frustrations felt by many people. Although he initially hesitated because of a strong expletive included in the lyrics, Arcilla ultimately chose to move forward with the project to shed light on deeply rooted social issues.
Meanwhile, John Arcilla voiced his disapproval of the use of a live dove during a Salubong ceremony in Malabon. The actor expressed doubts about whether the practice aligns with the true significance of the Easter tradition. He also highlighted concerns regarding faith, personal responsibility, and the welfare of living creatures created by God. Arcilla encouraged fellow Catholics to think carefully about whether such customs genuinely reflect reverence and respect for God.
