On his birthday, June 24, the veteran star shocked fans by launching his debut single, a fiery track tackling deep-seated social issues.

Yet, despite his famous onscreen bravery, John candidly confessed that he is absolutely terrified about how the public—especially religious and educational institutions—will react to the explicit nature of his creative work.

According to Bandera, John teamed up with master record producer Jonathan Manalo to bring this striking musical commentary to life.

John openly admitted his environmental advocacy often drives him to voice his perspectives, but this creative leap feels vastly different.

He shared that he was deeply inspired by current local radio hits that safely utilized raw expressions to create an authentic emotional release.

"Ang daming nagagalit na tao sa nangyayari sa paligid natin. Sabi ko kailangan natin ng isang kanta na may catharsis, ‘yung mailabas ng tao ‘yung sama ng loob," John explained, highlighting that the music serves as an avenue for internal relief.
"Kasi hindi na tayo masyadong nakikinig sa isa’t isa, masyado na tayong maingay bilang isang bansa pero hindi tayo nagkakasundo. Parang kailangan natin ng isang release mabawasan man lang at sana makinig tayo sa isa’t isa," John added.

The real shock factor stems from the track’s unapologetic title, “Ano Ba Yan P*nyeta,” borrowing a highly intense curse word that became John's legendary trademark phrase in a blockbuster historical film.

The choice has triggered a massive wave of inner conflict for the veteran star, who heavily worries about his personal standing in respectable spaces.

"Sa totoo lang natatakot ako. Malapit na itong lumabas natatakot na ako sa universities, sa church, baka ang maging reputasyon ko eh, ngayon lang ako maglalabas ng single, ‘yun pa parang nagmumura ako," John expressed with utmost vulnerability.

He clarified that his ideal career niche is to be a singer or actor whose music leans heavily toward being inspirational, rather than being known for aggressive profanity.

John further detailed that the song does not merely point fingers at high-level corruption but challenges normal citizens to examine their own habits.

"Parang pinagsasabihan ko ang sarili natin na ‘sandali bakit may corruption? Ina-allow ba natin itong mangyari o mula ba pagkabata nababad na tayo sa iba’t ibang klaseng corruption at naging normal ito sa atin kaya dumating tayo sa ganitong klaseng corruption?’ Mas may ganoon pa siguro kaysa sa nagze-zero in lang ako sa isang klase ng corruption," he explained.

Ultimately, the team at Star Music managed to ease his worries by explaining how the cultural weight of the word has shifted into a casual expression over time.

He opened up about his specialized emergency response insights and expressed immense respect for the daily challenges encountered by first responders. John strongly urged citizens to maintain deep vigilance and personal responsibility to prevent devastating fire accidents nationwide.

Meanwhile last year, he published emotional photographs showing him providing comfort to his beloved canine companion, Yapyap, at a veterinary facility. The screen star expressed how heartbreaking it is to watch family pets age and fall ill, noting his dog’s prolonged hospitalization for persistent health issues. Even with demanding professional commitments, John and his relatives maintain daily hospital visits so their pet feels constantly cherished and supported. He remains deeply optimistic about a swift recovery, hoping his animal companion can return home in time to share the holiday season with them.
