Senator Chiz Escudero is firing back at corruption allegations, calling them a complete fabrication born out of political rivalries.

The issue surfaced after an alleged former bagman of Congressman Zaldy Co claimed that the veteran senator had received four suitcases packed with cash. When asked directly about his name being dragged into the controversial "maleta" issue, Chiz made it clear that he was not surprised by the attack, linking it directly to the dirty nature of politics.

"Para sakin, bahagi na siguro yan. Yung tapunan ng putik sa pulitika. May nadagdag, may nabawas din. May nadagdag na bagong kalaban, may nabawasa na kakampi," Chiz shared.

The lawmaker emphasized that truth in public service should not be dictated by who your friends or enemies are. He also warned current leaders not to repeat the mistakes of past Senate administrations who weaponized such issues to tear down their political opponents, stating that these tactics do nothing to clarify the real problem of corruption in the country.

Addressing the rumor head-on, Chiz explained that his long-standing personal feud with Congressman Co makes the alleged exchange completely unbelievable.

"To answer directly, gawad, hindi na ako nagulat pero tahasan kong sasabihin na hindi totoo yan dahil magkagalit kami ni Congressman Co sa mahabang panahon, at maraming nakakaalam niyan, imposibleng mangyari yan," Chiz firmly said.

To add to the absurdity of the claims, the senator pointed out that those behind the allegations could not even get their facts straight regarding where he lives.

"Maliban doon, mali rin yung address nila eh. Hindi ko na iko-correct yung address," he added.

Chiz Escudero is a prominent Filipino lawyer and politician. He first rose to national prominence as a congressman representing Sorsogon, earning a reputation as a sharp debater and a principled lawmaker. Later, he served as a senator, where he became known for his work on legislation related to justice, human rights, and good governance. Beyond his professional career, Chiz is also widely recognized in the public eye due to his high-profile marriage to actress and fashion icon Heart Evangelista. In his statement, Chiz extended his deepest sympathies to the victims. He also demanded an immediate action from the government in his post.

Meanwhile, in the same year, Chiz Escudero questioned why Martin Romualdez's name is absent from the flood control probe lists. He called Romualdez "the name that cannot be mentioned" despite stepping down as House Speaker. He raised the issue to the Independent Commission on Infrastructure.
